I am interested in learning Urdu so I can communicate with my boyfriend and his family in their native language. I've been having a difficult time finding an Urdu teacher, so I am open to learning Hindi and later picking up Urdu as the languages are quite similar. I have close to zero knowledge of the language -- besides watching Bollywood films! Needless to say, I'll need to start from square one. I would like to do one to two lessons a week, during the day (before 4 pm) and I don't mind travelling across the city to study! My goal is to obtain a basic knowledge of the language, I want to be able to understand and have basic conversations . I would also love to learn the alphabet, but writing is not as important to me in this case as oral communication .

I've just spent two months in Thailand and plan on returning there next year to live. Living there two months i have picked up the basics but would like to further my knowledge and give about 3-6 hours a week depending .
