I think Urdu is a language that sounds very beautiful to me,especially in song. I am attracted to much of India, its culture and I have studied its Spirituality. I decided that Urdu particularly sounds so beautiful that I'm certain that subtitles in film can not do it justice in translation. I see that when I attempt to share my love of this language with other people they are generally do not appreciate it as I do, so in my search for why I am so attracted to it I decided to investigate studying Urdu and Hindi. I was raised in Malaysia with European parents in a very cosmopolitan environment,s o I am most comfortable and familiar with Indian and other Asian cultures, but have always had an affinity for the Vedic tradition and India.

I am interested in learning thai, chinese, posibly korean, as well as tagalog. I used to tutor undergrad levels in biology (human & non), psychology, and psychoanalysi s. I'v had 1 years of italian & spanish, but have not used them for some years, as some languages may relate and any other languages are beginer levels for me.
I plan to teach, at some point in the future, posibly a nursing career. Studies outside the USA may be posible at later dates. I have varrying time limits on studies.

I know enough German to barely get by at a pub or restaurant. I would like to learn German because of career advancement possibilities and I've always wanted to become proficient in a second language. I am a highschool junior who is currently studying several languages. I am proficient in the spanish langauge and am in the AP level class for it. I have been conducting an independent study of German (which I speak very poorly)and I have taken private lessons in Japanese for a little while now. I am currently looking for a good Arabic class in the Raleigh area in order to learn conversationa l Middle Eastern Arabic. One of the main reasons I want to learn arabic is because I am currently in the military and want to become a translator. The culture and language have always interested me and I believe that now is as good a time as any to further my knowledge of the Arab language and culture. I don't have a very loose schedule, but am willing to devote as much time as i can to study the language. I want a personal learning experience with a small class size, if not one on one learning with a teacher who is a native speaker of Middle Eastern Arabic. I would like to experience very intensive lessons very focused on grammar and the mechanics of the language itself.
