| Description |
Goeiemore I am planning to travel to South Africa and I want to learn as much Afrikaans as possible before I go. I have been studying intensely over the past two months but my progress is slow. This is rather frustrating for me as I generally comprehend foreign languages fairly easily.
The amount of time I want to dedicate to Afrikaans language lessons would be as much as 20hours per week, but no less than 4hours per week. Such instruction should be led by someone who is either a native speaker or who has spent years in an Afrikaans-spe aking community. (I'm open to someone who speaks Afrikaans who is trying to learn English, as a sort of language exchange.) This is because my goal is to have conversationa l command of the language with a solid foundation in grammar. My preference is for a instructor in the Houston area but I am open to other means. I am willing to pay accordingly for all this, so if you speak Afrikaans please contact me! Thank you.

| Description |
My name is Keith Kiyoshi Oshiro. I was wondering about taking Japanese lessons from you. Would you let me know if you are accepting new students, the cost per lesson, and whether or not you offer some kind of discount if a bulk of lessons are purchased at once. Also, is your teaching schedule flexible? I would be coming to your location. Although I have spoken Japanese as a child, I consider myself a beginner, and starting from scratch. A little about myself...I am 40 years old, and a third generation(sa nsei) Japanese American originally from Mountain View, CA. I used to speak Japanese fairly well, but have forgotten most of it! I know it's a shame, but as they say...'if you don't use it, you lose it.' My grandmother on my mother's side lived with my family and she didn't speak any English. So from childhood, until her death in 1983 when I was 17, I spoke Japanese to her. I remember being able to watch and understand Japanese movies without subtitles. I even worked in a Japanese Market. You wouldn't believe it, but I used to be able to count change in Japanese too. My family has much history, going back to my Father's side being in Hawaii during the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and my Mother's family on the mainland all going to Internment Camp. I have always wanted to learn how to read and write Japanese, and of course be able to converse again. I have a black belt in Aikido, and have a trip to Japan next coming up in a few weeks to train. I have been to Japan several times for business, and the same thing always happens. By the time I leave, my Japanese just starts to come back. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
Keith K. Oshiro
