Dear Professor,
I am writing this letter in the hopes that you will help me realize a goal that I have set for myself. Please let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Alexis Santiago, fiancé to Peter and mother to Neiken. We are a young hard working family planning a wedding that will combine two different cultures. On the day I take my vows I become Alexis Nugyen. Yes, my soon to be husband is Vietnamese.
In my day-to-day routine I have picked up many words and phrase. Peter is willing and eager to keep the language by teaching Neiken all he can. Peter and I want to make sure that our son can fully communicate with his grandparents and extended family. Family to us is very important. We also want to return one day to Vietnam to see and learn all we can, to pass on the heritage.
To learn the language will be beneficial in all aspects of my life. Helping with the family businesses, attending family functions, or just being able to truly communicate with my new family.
Wi th all those reason there is still one that is the closest to my heart. On the day of our wedding I would love to surprise Peter and all his family by being able to greet them and say a few special words that I will put together in their native tongue. Being able to speak to both families in their language will make our day that much special. Most of all I want to be able to bring my sons two cultures, Puerto Rican and Vietnamese together.
I hope in reading this letter you find a sincere request for assistance in teaching and challenging me in the language of Vietnamese. Thank you for your time and your consideration .

My husband is Persian and we have a toddler just learning to speak English and Farsi. Everyone in my husband's family speaks both English and Farsi, and I would very much like to learn Farsi so that I can communicate with my son and family with both languages (English and Farsi). I have a few words and phrases in my Farsi vocabulary, and I am excited to learn more. I want my son to grow up speaking both languages, and since I stay home with him, it is a prime opportunity to teach him what I learn.
