I am beginner level. I have had some basic classes in the language. I am familiar with Pinyin. I am interested in learning Mandarin to meet new friends and possibly someday travel to China. I am pretty good at learning to speak and my pronounciatio n is good. But I feel I need practice in conversation to gain improvement in understanding when spoken to by native speakers. I would like to dedicate at least one or two days a week for an hour or two of learning and practice.

I went to SOLT language school at Fort Bragg, NC for the Army and I got a 1, 1+, 1+ on my DLPT in only 4 months. Usually, the course is six months, but they shortened it for our class. For those unfamiliar to the DLPT a 2,2 is high enough to get paid for the language. I need more help in all areas, reading, speaking, and listening. Especially in listening, that's the category I received a 1 in. I am looking to improve my skills enough to get a 2,2 or better on the DLPT. I am looking for an instructor that can deliver the grammar with constant immersion. I learn very quickly, SOLT has the same requirements for passing as the Defense Language Institute, but their Farsi class is usually a year long. In essence, I did the same thing in four months that some people can't even do in a year. I am looking to dedicate as much time as necessary to achieve my goal of a 2,2 or better.
