I might consider myself an intermediate speaker. I studied Portuguese in Brazil for a month in college, 101 and 102. I am proficient in Italian and Spanish, which helps me to understand spoken Portuguese. Because of this, my grammar is pretty decent, but my vocabulary is lacking. I am a little rusty, but am a very fast learner when it comes to languages. I love Brazil and have been twice, and hope to go again this summer to visit friends and do volunteer work. I want to learn it purely for conversationa l and travel purposes. I love languages and have studied linguistics and would love to be better at portuguese, but cannot take classes on a regular basis due to my work schedule and being out of town often. Therefore meeting might be 3 times a week for a week or two, then not at all for another week or two.

I am a beginner in arabic. I took modern standard arabic at the University of Texas at Austin with Prof. Mohammed Mohammed for two years. This was in 2003. I would like to get back into Arabic, however I would like to study a dialect so that I can converse with Arabs. Whenever I was taking Fus-ha I had trouble conversing with ordinary Arabic speaking people. I would like to dedicate one to two hours a week with a teacher and maybe have some exercises assigned to me. I would really like to improve on speaking arabic. I am learning arabic because I always wanted to work at an embassy. Right now I am a law student. I would like a teacher who is flexible and patient
