M y reason for wanting to learn Russian: I enjoy learning about other cultures, and foreign languages really interest me. About two years ago I started listening to the Russian singing group t.A.T.u. I listened to their Russian songs and really liked the way the language sounded. From then on I knew that I wanted to learn Russian. I would like to be able to express myself in another language other than English. I am sure there are many other good benefits that could come from knowing Russian.
The areas I need help in: Well being a beginner, I need help as an overall whole with the language. Last Christmas I received a book that teaches you Russian that came with three CD's that go along with the book to help you with pronunciation . I learned simple words such as hello, yes, no etc.. But I wasn't able to focus and really learn what I was being taught. This is why I would like to have a teacher teach me. So I have someone live in person helping me learn the language and be someone I can actually talk back to.
Time I am willing to dedicate to the language lessons: I am willing to give it my all and dedicate as much time as I can. I really want to take learning the language seriously.
Qualities I am looking for in a teacher: I would like my teacher to not make the lessons dull, and make the lessons enjoyable for the both of us. I want to feel that each time we meet I am learning so much more than our last lesson. And I would like for my teacher to discuss with me Russian culture and Russian customs. Also it would be great if my teacher knew of some Russian movies that I might like and could possibly get a hold of to watch and help me with Russian.

My proficiency in spanish is at the intermediate/ advanced level. I can hold a simple conversation, read the newspaper, and watch the news on TV in Spanish. I'd like to attain fluency in spanish, so I can function in a business environment.
I'm considering going to Monterrey during the second and third week of December, in order to learn intensive Spanish for Business. I'd like to take lessons during 4 hrs/day, for a total of 40 hrs.
I'd like to have suggestions on lodging in Monterrey during my stay.
