I am a beginner in Arabic studies. I have been familiar with reading and writing in Arabic from a very young age. I would like to build my verbal skills and as well writing. I want to study Arabic because I want to attend American University in Cairo to receive a masters in Arabic. I would like my teacher to be very helpful, organized, structured and easy going. I would like to meet with my Arabic teacher on a daily basis for about 1-2 hours.

I would like to begin to learn the Mandarin Chinese language. I work for an engineering firm and will be stationed in Singapore for the next 2-3 years as well as going to China where some of the is work is being done. I feel it would be a very good asset to be able to speak and understand the poeple I will be interfacing with on this project in a language other than just English. I will be leaving in 3-4 months and I would like to begin learning and understanding while I am here and then continue studying when I arrive in country over there. I am very dedicated to this task as it will only help me to learn and absorb all that I can now before I leave. As far as qualities in lessons or a teacher, I feel one needs to meet and begin in the process of learning and that is where I could begin to know what I am really looking for since this is a new subject for myself.
