I am a intermediate beginner. I was in Brazil for 7 weeks this summer and studied intensively for 2 weeks. I am a Spanish speaker and teacher so I have some advantage. I am looking for a trained teacher( degree not required) , with a good understanding of the grammar and who uses a variety of methods and activities to teach the language. I need mostly to be able to speak with more fluency but would also like to read and write. I need about an hour a week.

At this moment I'm between beginner and an intermediate proficiency level. I lived in Okinawa Japan for 4 1/2 years and I was 'almost' fluent. I've lived here in Texas for 8 years and I've become very rusty. I really desire to become and remain fluent not only in speaking but also in reading and writing Kanji.. My goal in life is to become an Japanese Interpreter, either for the U.S. Gov or for personal business. Studying japanese isn't a language you only study for an hour or two. When I study Japanese I'm totally committed and I'm willing to put in all the time it will require for me to reach this goal. The qualities I look for in my lessons are challenging and demanding, and that goes for the instructor as well. I've had several Japanese instructors and supervisors so I can handle any challenge given to me. I've received an A.A. in Japanese Studies, B.A. in Business Administratio n and in Business Management. I believe in working hard.

My husband is from Holland and we are expecting our first child in October. I know that he is intending to only speak Dutch to the baby and I would love to be able to understand what he is saying to her. I am a beginner, even though I understand a few things from visiting Holland over the summer. I mostly am interested in learning conversation for now. Right now I have alot of free time so I could dedicate at least two hours a day to learning the language. I just hope to find a teacher who is patient and enjoys teaching Dutch and who knows how to make learning a fun experience.
