I studied French for 5 years in junior and high schools. I am 24 now, and desire to place out of the beginning levels of French at the University of Houston. I would need to work on grammar, vocabulary, translation, and writing. I have begun working on my own in workbooks, but would like to have a bit of guidance and monitoring of my progress and additional practice/exer cises.
I am thinking perhaps I would check in with a teacher once a week and go over work and maybe discuss a new lesson or problem areas. Perhaps even receive assignments or vocabulary work for the next week. I am also open to suggestions the tutor might have about best approaching self-study.

Dear my future teacher,
I am interested to learn the following langauges:
Mandarin - intermediate level - able to listen and speak fairly, no problem in writing and reading. Want to improve on conversation, pronounciatio n and 'pin yin'.
For Japanese and French, just a beginner, and want to learn from the very beginning.
My goal is I can speak fluently when I travel to Japan, France and China. As well as able to read and write to meet the daily needs.

My daughter, Kat, is registered for second year French at univeristy this fall but has not taken French in school for 2 years. She was in French immersion in Canada JK-7, and then took French Grade 8-11 (by which time she had completed all of the high school French; no French AP was available)
She needs to refresh her grammer and vocabulary so that she can pass a test to go into the second year course.
