I am interested in learning sign language because.. i have a niece that was diagnosed with down syndrome a few years ago and her main from of communication in sign language. It has truly inspired me to learn and to be able to understand her more would be amazing. Im thinking about studying childhood development in kids with disabilities. I understand very little at the moment. I know the alphabet.. and simple things that my niece has taught me. I would like to have two classes a week.. maybe 1.5-2 hours long. In a teacher I'm looking for someone that will go slow and really make me understand.. and someone thats going to challenge me and really give me what i need to take this to the place I want it to go.

About 4 months ago, I had a profound spiritual experience. God showed me the way to follow my calling into a music ministry, and it was through sign language. I am to learn to sign, beginning with the basics, and continue on until I am proficient in both signing for conversation and signing for song. Not knowing just how to pursue this calling, I let it sit idle for a while, but I cannot put it on the back burner any longer. I have searched colleges and continuing education classes but have had little luck in finding the right person or people to teach me. I will find the path to my destination, perhaps through this site, perhaps with your teaching and guidance. This is not a passing phase for me. This is my calling and I will follow it through to the end.

# I have always wanted to learn something new and useful and different and i was facinated by the sign language.I wanted to use it in the future either to help or as a career because i like communicating with people and i already speak english and french.
# I dont know anything about sign language and if there is a school for sign language in mauritius.If there is any ,i would like to enrol to the beginner course and am available any time and day during the week.
# I am a quick learner so i dont mind even 5 lessons a week.I am looking for someone who is patient and attentive and with previous teaching experience.
