I am 62 years old and for the past 6 years my hearing has progressively diminished. I have lost hearing in my left ear and my right ear is only functioning at 45%. I have such a difficult time functioning in the hearing world, I tend to avoid contact with people. I only know a little ASL, that it is also very difficult for me to talk with the deaf. Both the hearing and the deaf world get frustrated when talking with me, because they have to speak loud or slowly or repeat things several times. I am isolated, lonely and frustrated. I can't find any local deaf groups I can join. I can't find a tutor or classes I can afford. And I am tired of living in between both worlds. I want to change my circumstances .
