I have been learning Portuguese on my own for about six months but though I feel reasonably confidant in written Portuguese I really need lots of practice in speaking Portuguese.
My spoken Portuguese feels very shaky when I try to talk to a Brazilian friend. Also I know that my accent is terrible!
I may be older than most language learners but my attitude is that you are never too old to learn

I am a PhD student who is going to do research in the Somali region of Ethiopia next year. I want to learn as much Somali as possible before I leave, in order to help the research process. I am currently a beginner. So far I have been reading Martin Orwin's colloquial Somali, which has given me some grammar and vocabulary, but I have had very little practice with speaking or listening. So I would like to work on speaking and listening firstly. From a teacher I am looking for a good level of organisation and clear idea of where each lesson is going (for example learning goals for each lesson). This is so I can have a good idea of progress. Also I would like to avoid speaking too much English in the lessons.
