I am learning Italian because my long term boyfriend is from Croatia and his family lives in Italy. Visits will be much easier when he doesnt have to translate for me and I promised them I would learn more Italian before our visit this summer. I am a beginner. I can understand a little but that is about it. I need the most help in conversation, grammar is not my main concern. I am a very busy person but would like to do one lesson a week and am willing to put some time toward homework as well.

I want to learn Italian to prepare for my semester/s abroad in Italy beginning in the fall of 2011. I have never taken an Italian course before, however I am basically fluent in spanish which (I have heard) will be useful in learning Italian. I have never been taught a language by a tutor so I do not know how fast I will accelerate, therefore I'm not sure how much time I would need to dedicate. I want to have a basic grasp of conversationa l phrases and grammar, and I will continue to take classes once I arrive in Italy through the University there. I would like my tutor to be someone who is flexible with teaching methods, and can pick up on my strengths and weaknesses to devise an individual learning plan (that's why I am seeking a personal tutor instead of going to a classroom setting). I would prefer someone casual and easy going (like myself) because I learn much better in a relaxed atmosphere.

I am an Intermediate italian student. I need constant coversation which is difficult in Minneapolis, and need special help withconversat ional comprehension .
I live in Minneapolis, but travel for work quite often, not to mention travel to Italy. But when I am here, I'd like to be taking lessons.
For a teacher, the best for me is, naturally, a native-tongue speaker, but also one who speaks things italian:
pol itics, culture, history...and maybe calcio!
