I have a masters degree in Humanitarian Studies and have completed to Critical Language Scholarships in Kiswahili. I would like to continue learning Kiswahili because I love the language and it would allow me to work and be of service in East Africa. I am between a Beginner High and Intermediate Low fluency. I need improvement in more complex grammar, conversation, and reading/writi ng. I would like to meet 1 time per week for a couple hours. In a teacher I look for someone who is patient, kind, and with a sense of humor.

I am a PhD in ethnomusicolo gy studying music of eastern Africa, and I am looking to continue my study of Kiswahili for my research. I have completed two years of formal language study. I would like to improve all areas, however, with a particular emphasis on conversation. I hope to have individual lessons weekly or every other week.

Hi! I work with a non-profit organization in Austin TX that works with student teams to travel abroad and create documentary media. Our team travelled to Tanzania this year and we are in desperate need of a Swahili translator to help with a few key interviews for our film to be completed. It would require about three hours of translating time, working with a great group of students and all for a good cause! We do not have a lot of money as we are a nonprofit organization but hoping that someone will want to help us for a small stipend!

Our family may be moving to Tanzania for the 2010-2011 academic year. We are interested in getting a head start in the language. We are all beginners. The four of us would enjoy tutoring, 8 yr old, 5 year old and two adults.
