I have a masters degree in Humanitarian Studies and have completed to Critical Language Scholarships in Kiswahili. I would like to continue learning Kiswahili because I love the language and it would allow me to work and be of service in East Africa. I am between a Beginner High and Intermediate Low fluency. I need improvement in more complex grammar, conversation, and reading/writi ng. I would like to meet 1 time per week for a couple hours. In a teacher I look for someone who is patient, kind, and with a sense of humor.

I love learning; especially languages. I am half Puerto-Rican and have tried to learn Spanish on many different occasions and where I've managed to pick up quite a bit...it's not enough. I believe I am currently in the middle of the beginner-inte rmediate level. I would like to be fluent at a conversationa l level. I am will to dedicate as much time as needed so that I can learn quickly. I will be going to PR in the near future and would like to feel like I belong. I interact with ministers from Kenya and would love to understand them when they speak Swahili (they also speak very good English).
I am a beginner, so I need improvement in every area.
I would like to dedicate 1-2 hours per week of formal instruction. I know people that I can practice with to use what I learn.
I would like to be able to learn conversation, but it is very important to me that I am able to conjugate verbs to be able to build short sentences as I learn more nouns. I also need to learn the vernacular of church and church terms, since that is the primary arena that I will interact with them in. I need a teacher that is patient and that can help me learn in a logical progression that allows me to build upon my knowledge.
