I am learning Arabic to advance my academic prospects
My proficiency level is up to you to determine. I can read very well, though my listening is terrible. My speech is decent. My writing is okay. Basically, we need to really work on listening, and you really need to be patient with me, because I will become extremely frustrated with myself.
I am very busy with work. However, I could see myself making time for Arabic an hour everyday, and working with a teacher over the weekends.
I am looking for someone who integrates interesting material into the lesson. I want to advance my vocabulary. More than likely, I will want to study a topic, then we build a conversation around the topic.

I am writing this for two people. I am requesting information for myself as well as my 19 yr. old son. We both want to travel to Syria to study Arabic there. I am at the level of beginner intermediate or beginner advanced and he is at beginner.
We both want to learn for career advancement although I think he also is just excited to travel and do something together with his father.
Areas we need improvement in? all of it frankly. I would like to be able to speak fluently, to understand easily and translate whatever I read or hear into English. Eventually I want to speak ARabic well enough to be able to teach at the high school or college level; eventually.
I would like to study in classroom for three hours a day five days a week. I hope to find a school very soon as it was my desire to be in Syria before the end of the year.
In my teacher I hope to find someone that is a very effective and patient teacher. A person that is happy to be doing what he is doing.

I studied Chinese for over 4 years, which includes studying abroad for one summer. I want to continue practicing and improving my Chinese. I am learning Chinese because studying foreign languages interests me, and it might open up career opportunities . I definitely want to stress listening and speaking, but I also need to practice reading and writing. I am looking for a teacher who will emphasize tones and grammar.
