You don't waste a single learning moment with Thay Thanh I am a language teacher myself and as a result, I can be quite critical of the teaching when I learn another language. However, with Thay Thanh Pham, such thoughts do not enter my head. I work from beginning of the lesson until the end, and we cover all the aspects of learning that I feel are important for mastery of the language: social chat where I just have to make do with the little I know and communicate; pronunciation (essential for Vietnamese. It's probably the most difficult aspect of the language; and a good communicative textbook that we work through methodically. Thay makes me work hard, but he's interested in communicating, finding out about me, patient and really thorough. Overall a GREAT Learning Experience About 1 1/2 years ago, I was looking for a teacher to teach me advanced Vietnamese. I was fairly knowledgeble in the language already, however I wanted to further develope my reading and writing. Finding a teacher to teach advanced level Vietnamese is tougher than it sounds, especially here in Colorado. Then I stumbled upon Teacher Thanh! Teacher Thanh was very accommodating! He finds out what you, as an individual, want to learn and then teaches accordingly. His style encompasses patience, warming banter, and corrections in your use of language (if need be). He has told me many times, "If the student doesn't learn, I feel I've failed as a teacher." He works around your schedule, so even the most busy person has a chance to learn. Professional teacher! Thanh is very good Vietnamese teacher, he is patient, creative and has good sense of humor Mr Thanh provides me with a lot of audio, video files and lessons. And his lessons are packed full of exercises, pronunciation, conversational practice, new vocabulary and revision of past lessons. Best Choice Award! I feel very fortunate to have come across such a great mentor. Mr. Thanh is very professional and yet very personal at the same time. If you are someone with many questions, not only about the Vietnamese language, but also about anything related to the Vietnamese culture then this is the person I would recommend for you. From my own personal experience I have found that this professor will go the extra distance in teaching his students. I feel that he sincerely wants each of his students to have a firm understanding of the materials that he is presenting. However, if you are like me and have many questions; he will go beyond the lesson plans and answer them. I feel that it is rare to come across a person with such a wealth of knowledge and patience, after you meet with him I am certain that you will agree as well. Excellent Teacher I have found Thanh Pham to be an excellent teacher who continually pushes me to learn more. He also does a very good job of keeping the lesson interesting. Just about the time I am feeling tired of an activity he switches to another. I have struggled the most with pronunciation in Vietnamese and Thanh has spent a lot of time working with me on that. Highly recommended professional teacher When I see the many positive comments about Mr. Thanh's Vietnamese teaching on this web site, I feel like I could have written them myself. I find the one-on-one experience via Skype to be far more effective than a classroom situation. I always look forward to our weekly meetings and intend to continue for some time to come, as I feel like I'm making progress in a language that I had previously thought unapproachable. Mr. Thanh does more than just deliver the lesson, which is what makes him such a good teacher. You can tell that he enjoys sharing his knowledge of his language with others who want to learn it, and this makes it that much more interesting. We usually have some ad hoc discussion at the beginning of the lesson, as much as possible in Vietnamese despite my beginner's level, so I always end up learning much more than just what's in the lesson materials (save your Skype transcripts and study those too!). This unstructured part of our meetings is as important as the more formal parts of the lesson. I try to make sentences that I can't always complete, and Mr. Thanh shows me how to say it, which makes the learning experience more personalized. Highly recommend ... excellent language course I really cannot recommend Mr Thanh highly enough. He is not only an excellent teacher but also patient, professional, funny and encouraging. He will congratulate you when you get things right, but remind you to study when you forget things, which makes his lessons challenging but fun. Learning on Skype is very effective because Mr Thanh provides audio files and lessons. I have studied Vietnamese before in a classroom of 20 people, but I didn't learn nearly as much as I have learnt in only 8 months with Mr Thanh because the lessons are one-on-one. I wasn't sure what to expect from an online language course, but I have been incredibly impressed by the professionalism and teaching experience of this Vietnamese course. If I am busy with work or traveling overseas, my teacher is always happy to reschedule lessons so the flexibility is also great. First-Rate Teacher I began learning Vietnamese with Mr. Thanh in preparation for a year of study in Ho Chi Minh City. I was a bit skeptical at first about learning the language online, but it proved to be very effective and worthwhile. I started taking weekly lessons with him in late 2009 and continued my studies with him throughout the following year. When I had more time I learned with him daily. This teacher is very flexible in scheduling lessons. He is very dedicated and passionate about teaching Vietnamese. He takes you through the basics and makes learning the language fun! His lessons are always well-prepared and consists of reading and listening comprehension as well pronunciation exercises. I received a lot of feedback after every lesson and learned what my strengths and weaknesses were. His encouraging attitude and positive reinforcement motivated me to learn the language even more. When I arrived in country, Mr. Thanh and his entire family greeted me at the airport to welcome me to Vietnam! I have been studying in VN for 5 months now, and I realize how much my lessons with Mr. Thanh paid off! When I first got here, I had an easier time communicating with the locals because I had already learned simple phrases to help me navigate around the city. Learning with Mr. Thanh also helped me excel in my Vietnamese language course at the national university. This teacher prepared me well to learn the language on a more advanced level. Currently I am still studying Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City. Whenever I have a free weekend, I visit Mr. Thanh and his family in the countryside for great home-cooked meals! He is not only a very good teacher but also a wonderful host to his country! I highly recommend this teacher to anyone who is interested in learning Vietnamese! Very good and accommodating vietnamese teacher Very good Vietnamese teacher. My schedule was a bit uncertain but he was very accommodating and was willing to change at a moments notice. The curriculum itself is effective and goes at a consistent pace. Due to the fact its a personal class Thanh Pham begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting did a good job of suiting the class to my needs and my level. Highly recommended teacher Thanh is a very effective teacher of Vietnamese who, in the ten one-hour lessons that I have had so far, has made me realise that it is possible to learn this difficult language. Thanh's lessons are packed full of exercises, pronounciation practice, new vocabulary and revision of past lessons, providing an opportunity with each lesson of increasing one's understanding of the language. most excellent patient Vietnamese language teacher I have met with Thanh Pham twice a week for the past 9 weeks and have most excellent experience. we use skype on internet for classes. I am first time student of Vietnamese language, and believe I am making good progress. Thanh is very patient and provides very useful learning materials to support studying after session is over. I have always received immediate feedback whenever I submitted questions regarding a lesson. The language is a challenge to learn, it is not easy, though Thanh has me believing it is possible to learn with his guidance. Good teacher. He is the best teacher! I learn something new each lesson and he is very patient and such a good teacher to help with my Vietnamese. Each lesson includes pronunciation for the phonemes and tones, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and speech. He make me confident in learning. Good Teacher I have never thought that online learning Languages might be useful as learning in person. But now I realize I am wrong. This is the first time I learn Vietnamese online. It is amazing learning with this teacher. He is so patient and experienced. He offer the excellent way, I can learn listening, speaking, reading comprehension....He make me confident.
