Re:Re:Suitable languages
Hi there,
I would definitely recommend learning Gaelic. However, to be honest, Gaelic wil be of limited use to you, even in Scotland or Ireland, where everyone also speaks English. The same is true of Welsh.
Gaelic and Welsh are separate (though related) languages so you won't be able to understand one if you study the other. But the native language of Scotland and Ireland are both dialects of Gaelic, so if you learn one you can probably understand the other.
You could also try learning some other European languages while you're in the UK. Most UK universities will offer French, German and Spanish classes.
I can't recommend any UK universities, but in the Republic of Ireland Trinity College (in Dublin) is very popular with foreign students and offers a wide range of language courses.

Re:Can anyone help me learn please?
I live in Kaohsiung, the south part of Taiwan. Chinese isn't so hard as you think. Learn to spell first, then try to talk to people often. Taiwannese are very friendly, you will like here.

Re:How patient are the Japanese?
Hi, I hope my answer helps me. I consider that most of us are patient to listen and answer your questions as long as you speak Japanese. You will be surprised to know that not so many Japanese understand English. Many of us can read and write English pretty well. but when it comes to speaking or listening.... few can understand. But, please keep in your mind that we are very friendly and gentle to others.

Re:Want to live in Thailand
Hi Jeff, I'm Siri, living in Bangkok, just got into this website today so I'm not sure if it's too late telling you some information. Perhaps you're in Thailand right now and found out where to study Thai and Thai food culinary school. I actually don't have exact information for you now, but I think you can check it out in classified ads in "Bangkok Post" or "The Nation" newspaper, the only 2 local newspaper in English. Or visit their website, should be some info you're looking for. Hope this'd be helpful and hope you enjoy your staying in Thailand. Cheers!
