Learning Spanish in South America
I'm spanish speaker from Spain, and when some of my foreigner friends ask me where should they go to study spanish I have always to remind them that not only in Spain they can learn good spanish.
Normally, for most of european not spanish speakers, it is easier to go jsut to Spain and take some classes there, but last years I've been hearing more and more, about people who decided to go, for a little bit longer, to south america, and stop a few weeks in a city to learn or improve some spanish.
South America is nice, less explored and cheaper than Europe. That's clear! And in many countries you have extra activities you can develope without the massivity of many of the european places.
But of course, it's always difficult to choose between the different accents they have in South America.
It is said that the best places to learn spanish in SA are Lima and Bogotá, and this is because they have a more polite and puurer spanish. Places like Buenos Aires or Mexico DF are, of course, more atractive, but you can end up with a wierd spanish accent!
In Lima I've been introduced to a very serious and effective spanish school that offers you the possibility to combine the study of the languaje with the possibility to live and deal with locals and to travel around the country. I really like the concept thay have and the teaching methode. It is called EEC Spanish School in Lima. They have a web site.

hola, yo soy de Montevideo, Uruguay, y queria contestar respecto a lo que escribiste.
Es cierto que quizá en distrito federal de Mexico o en Buenos Aires o incluso aqui en Montevideo, pero en las universidades hay cursos de español para los extranjeros excelentesd de una universidad que esta entre las mejores 500 del mundo ORT, y además por supuesto que si sabemos que esta aprendiendo una persona sin conocimiento del idioma, no lo vamos a entreverar con metáforas y esas cosas, o le vamos a hablar de che, solo me parecia bueno aclaralo, se puede aprender en toda Sudamerica porque aqui la gente es amigable y ademas hay excelentes cursos de español de España. Es como que dijeras que el inglés americano es malo porque el puro es de Inglaterra
