Although I have studied Farsi for three years, I cannot speak and my reading is far below being proficient but I do have considerable knowledge of the language. I travel to Iran each year as a tourist and strongly desire to be able to communicate via conversation with my new friends. I also want to be able to read poets such as Rumi, Saadi and Hafez. I would like to meet at least twice weekly with a teacher. I need a teacher who really understands 'teaching.' And who is patient. I am 72 years old with some hearing loss. I want to see progress in my speaking ability.

I have very little exposure to Arabic. I have three books for beginners that I am trying to work through but it is difficult. I want to learn Arabic and continue learning Spanish for personal and business reasons. I am intrigued with culture and language and would like to pass any gained knowledge onto my children. I want a career in interpretatio n and believe Spanish is in high demand and Arabic is a rarity. My schedule flucuates weekly but would like to have 5-10 hours a week with the professor and then would allow another 5-10 hours a week for study. I want a teacher who is honest, credible and dedicated to teaching me sufficiently.

Dear Prospective Tamil Teacher,
Hello! I am very interested in taking Tamil lessons in the NYC area starting as soon as possible. My background will allow me to pick up Tamil easily, because I grew up with a Tamil/Kannada dialect at home. However, I have never been able to speak either language fluently! I would classify myself as a beginner for 'pure Tamil' and want to be able to speak conversationa lly. The reason I am now interested is to be able to speak with my fiance's family (they are from Madras). I can dedicate two - three hours per week to learning Tamil.
