Instructor needed to teach Beginning Arabic at a downtown Chicago university. The course is Arabic 102 (first year Arabic, second semester) and the book is 'al-Kitaab.' The class meets Monday-Thursd ay 9:00-9:50 AM, with an additional two hours a week for student consultation. The course runs for 15 weeks beginning January 17. Total salary is $4,500.00. Teaching experience required.

I am a semi-beginner in the arabic language. My parents both immigrated from Egypt years ago and but I do not speak the language fluently. I can understand more than I can converse and for personal and career reasons how a strong desire to improve that.
Besides the conversation portion of the language, I cannot read or write. I would like to learn this as well but it is still second to making sure I can converse the language. Because of my strong desire I would need to work a plan out with the tutor to see how much time is needed.
At the end of my lesson, I ask that I can at least begin to have casual conversations . As stated earlier, reading & writing would be a bonus but not a focus.
