I'm a graduate student who is interested in learning Urdu during my time between school and work. I have taken a year of Hindi, but would like to learn Urdu. I can read & write Arabic, so the script will not be difficult to learn, but I really want to practice speaking. I plan to travel throughout India this summer, and am willing to stay in a city for 4-6 weeks to learn Urdu everyday through a tutor or a program.

I am most definitely a beginner. I have wanted to gain fluency in spanish since I was a little girl, but have not had anyone to converse with on a regular basis. I seem to pick it up quickly as I am very eager to learn and love many latin cultures, but as soon as I lose the opportunity to practice it I slip dramatically on grammar proficiency. I will go out of my way to make it to classes and would like to meet several times a week if possible. I watch tv series and movies in spanish all the time, as well as listen to latin cd's. I can sing to Cafe Tacuba, Aterciopelado s and tons of other bands, but that doesn't do me much good in conversation! I want to be able to retire somewhere in Central America, and speak spanish as my primary language. I just hope that my teacher will give me as much homework as he/she thinks I can handle, and has a sense of humor and patience with their students.

I have just begun working in a building where 80% of residents and employees are native of Russia. I have several people who can translate for me, but I would like to learn the language myself.
I only know about four words right now, and have no idea how to string a sentence together - a true beginner.
I do know some Spanish, but this is of no help to me in learning Russian.
