I am the parent of two young boys, ages 8 and 11. My native language is English, but I am able to communicate in Spanish due to time spent working in South America.
My wife and I have both spent a great deal of time overseas as tourists and for business. It is our belief that having the ability to communicate in a second language is important in order to be a well rounded individual.
Obviously , China is a very influential country as well as a fascinating culture. I would like to find out about having a tutor work with our family to learn some basics of Mandarin Chinese.
W e would all be complete beginners in the language and would like to start out with a weekly session if possible.
As far as a teacher is concerned, it is very important to have someone who has experience with children and can make it fun for them.
The last thing to consider is that Katy is a suburb located west of Houston. It would not make sense for an instructor that was not situated in this area to attempt to teach our family a language.

My 8 yr old daughter who spoke Russian fluently about 1 year ago would like to become fluent once again. We know several Russian adults who have agreed to tutor her, but she needs a teacher who knows how to teach a child rather than just someone who knows Russian. A fun learning environment with other children would be great. We have several neighbors who are interested in learning Russain too.
