I took a year of Mandarin in college, and lived in Sichuan for six months. However, that was three years ago. Even at my peak, I would never have described myself as 'fluent'. At this point, I have lost nearly all of my vocabulary and character recognition. I would like to get back to the point I was, and if possible, learn a few new things. I work for an international organization that would highly value my Chinese language skills.

I want to learn Swahili b/c I plan to do a lot of work in East Africa as a missionary. I only know a few words right now. As for as the amount of time I could dedicate, it would depend on both of our schedules at the time. It would also depend if it was in person (which I prefer) of via email,phone,v ideo etc.... I'm looking for a teacher who can speak with a native accent and can teach me how to effectivly speak to the natives.

My language level is beginner. Although I know some phrases and words, I would like to have the ability to understand, speak, and converse comfortably.
Eventually, I would like to do business in the Philippines and understanding Tagalog would be invaluable.
I am willing to put in 2-3 hours of class time per week and completely willing to do homework. I am most available in the late afternoon, evenings, or Fridays. Preferably, I would like to start tutoring sessions mid-January 2005.
