I am a beginner. I would like to learn french so that when I visit the country I have a great grasp of the language. I have never uttered a phrase in french. I will dedicate a good deal of time. I am a beginning Mandarin Student (1 month part time after work and 1/week class at a community college). Learning languages is a passion of mine but, unfortunately not a forseeable factor for career advancement in my field. Proper pronunciation is very important to me so I am looking for 1-2 hours of tutoring per week so I get off to a good start. Learning the characters is secondary to me now since I wish to become proficient orally before worrying about transitioning from Pinyin to formal script.

I wish to learn Hindi or Urdu as I intend to re-visit India & remain for some time. I am familiar with the people & culture & have tried to grasp the language with books, tapes but desire a 1 to 1 situation as I am truly a beginner. Conversation that is understood would be primary, correct grammar secondary. Time to spend on this is dependent upon our already existing schedules and the amount of compensation expected per lesson. I prefer someone with patience as well as an understanding of my personal needs to speak the language. I thank you in advance for your consideration .
