I am interested in private lessons in Mandarin Chinese commencing in January, 2009. I am a beginner whose Mandarin vocabulary is currently limited to approximately fifty words.
My ultimate objective is to be able to read Chinese books and newspapers directly without having to rely on translations.

I'm a beginning student of Mandarin Chinese with basic skills in listening and speaking. I do speak Japanese fluently, so I am familiar with reading and writing Chinese characters. At this point I'm primarily interested in improving my speaking and listening skills for future opportunities in business or government. I really want to be able to communicate with native speakers. I'm willing to dedicate as much time as possible outside of my job. I'm looking for a native speaker who would be willing to take the time to help me.

I am half chinese and half filipino. I have been raised in the filipino culture. I would like to learn Tagalog for conversationa l purposes. I plan to travel to the Philippines yearly and would like to be able to communicate to my relatives speaking their language. I feel there is a communication barrier when we use English. Eventually, I'd like to learn the dialect from Pangasinan.

I believe that I am in the advanced level, but I want to practice more, correct errors and improve my grammar.
I am willing to have classes once or twice a week and I am looking for a tutor with a background in linguistics and/or foreign language education and some experience (at least three years) teaching English as a second language.
