My father is from Croatia and my grandparents are still there. I really want to learn conversationa l Croatian so I can communicate directly with my grandparents and with my Dad in his native tongue. I have a very basic knowledge of Croatian and have been told I have great pronounciatio n skills. I would like to learn to write a little bit but mostly conversationa l usage is what I am looking for. I would be interested in dedicating several hours a week to lessons. I am open to private lessons or classroom, but not so interested in phone or online lessons. I would prefer a teacher with a native Croatian background but it is not a requirement-- someone with a proficiency in the language would be great. Oh, yes, and NOT Serbo-Croatia n (it's not the same thing!) but pure Croatian.

I will be studying at the American University in Cairo starting in August of 2005. I am currently a student at Northwestern University which is located outside of Chicago. I have never studied Arabic, and I am looking for a tutor for the summer of 2005. Although that is far away, I would like to explore all my options now. I would be willing to learn on a daily basis during the summer as an intensive preparation for my time abroad in Cairo.
I am looking to really master conversationa l Egyptian Arabic, but also to get a beginning level in the written language. I am very eager to get some basis in the language before I move there to study. I am looking for a teacher who is patient, but who will also challenge me.

I am looking for one or several teachers to teach Arabic at our Masjid on the Southwest side of Chicago. We need a teacher to teach english speaking adults and a seperate class for english speaking children to be available on weekdays and/or weekends. We are willing to have a teacher per class if necessary if you are only available at a certain time.
The teacher needs to provide a definite curriculum including working from a textbook. We need a beginning, intermediate and advanced teacher. Payment and times to be discussed.

My name is Lindsey and i am currently living in Orlando, Florida. I am married to a man from Pakistan (who speaks Urdu & Punjabi). Although my husband speaks english all of his family does not. I am extremely interested in learning Urdu to communicate with the family and to be able to be confident in myself when we move to Pakistan one day. I have a few children books and a computer software program. I watch alot of foriegn films and listen to alot of urdu speakers. I can speak/underst and quite a bit of phrases and words but cannot speak too many full sentences. I would love to meet someone who can really help me learn this lovely language and help me speak with my in-laws. I am a Stay at Home mother of a 1 month old baby but i have alot of time on my hands and am VERY flexible in shedules.

I would have to classify myself as a 'beginner-int ermediate' in that I have some history of formal language training in German, although many years in the past. I had 1 year of German in high school (ca. 1955-56), 2 years in college as an undergraduate , and took a German foreign language exam as one of my requirements for my Ph.D. obtained in 1971. Secondly, and one of the main reasons for my interest now, is that I have a native German daughter-in-l aw who is pregnant with our 1st (biological) grandchild. Both my son and she speak the language, and her parents, living in German, speak no English. The child will no doubt be at least bilingual and I would like to be able to be so as well. I believe it would also help my daughter-in-l aw to feel more comfortable. Additionally, I have maintained an interest in languages in general, particularly in German, though I have not used it much. I am told that my pronunciation remains quite good and I can still identify the meaning of many words. I have the 'Kontakte: A Communicative Approach' program (text, 4th ed., 'Arbeitsbuch' , 4th ed., to accompany the Kontakte text, and the Kontakte student audio CD, to accompany both). The authors are: Terrell, Tschirner, and Nikolai.
My focus would largely be on vocabulary, grammer, and conversation (speaking and writing). I would expect to devote the time necessary to accomplish my goals in the language. It would be most convenient if lessons could be via the internet with the possibility of audio and visual contact. In person contact would also be possible depending on proximity. I would expect my tutor/teacher to be native in the language or at least extremely proficient, to be a sensitive and positive instructor (vs. critical and demanding)and be respectful of the new learning process.
