I immigrated to USA this February, and now I am teaching Chinese in PR at a local language institute to learners of different ages. I began to teach English to Chinese students and sometimes Chinese to foreign students in my university in July 1989 after I graduated from a language university, and 10 years later, I was promoted an associate professor, and simultaneously the director of the First Teaching and Research Center of my department. (Therefore I had 7 years of administrative and supervisory experience). I had taught there for 21years, during which I was awarded 11 awards by my university or my department. I was one of the two teachers in my department whose salaries were raised as awards for outstanding performance in teaching. As a native Chinese, I can speak and write Chinese well; I have Grade Certificate of Mandarin Level Exam (I got 91.8 points in 100 points as total; 92 points is the points qualified for broadcaster). As liberal arts major, I am interested in cultures in both China and USA. In recent years, I have studied Eastern Classics such as Buddhism and Confucianism, done research into American literature especially the famous transcendentalists Emerson and Thoreau, and finished a thesis entitled “The Impact of Buddhism on Thoreau and Walden” (The Thoreau Society in Massachusetts intended to invite me to take part in the annual meeting in July 2008 after I sent the abstract of my thesis). In November 2008, I was invited by an Association for Oriental studies (DAKEDA) from France to take part in a seminar on Chinese culture and literature and expected to give a lecture on a famous Chinese contemporary author on January 20th, 2009. I have 18 publications of papers and books, and hosted or taking part in 3 teaching programs. During my teaching in China, computer software and multimedia equipment are used to assist teaching, and I am familiar with internet technology such as, word, email, excel etc. I am a polite, friendly, considerate lady. I get along very well with my students, my colleagues and my leaders. I feel great pleasure in helping anyone who needs help. |
