Details: PERSONAL PROFILE An ambitious, highly motivated modern languages graduate seeking a position where I can put the language skills and managerial experience I have acquired to their most effective use. I am looking forward to being given the opportunity to teach english in Kuwait.(Also looking forward to improving my arabic) 1996-2000 University of Birmingham, UK BA Joint Honours in French & Hispanic Studies - 2:1 -My degree covered a wide variety of modules ranging from the most commonly studied such as Language and Literature to Spanish Theatre & French Film, with a cultural emphasis placed on the year abroad. Under the Hispanic Studies umbrella I was also given the opportunity to develop my Portuguese language skills and Literature. -Spent a full academic year studying in Université de Poitiers - France and also attended a month summer course in Universidad Santiago de Compostela - Spain. My year’s study abroad has fuelled my independence, confidence and it has left me with many new friends and interests. It has also proven my ability to successfully adapt to an alternative lifestyle. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY Feb 2003 to Present – Inmobiliaria Victoria S.L., Sales Agent, Spain – Over the past year I have exercised a highly stressful post as a property sales agent for a Spanish Estate Agent. The job has been mainly customer service oriented and highly dependable on the knowledge of foreign languages such as english, spanish and french. A very comprehensive post where I have learnt many aspects of the Property Market in Spain. Nov 2001 – Feb 2003 - Cardiff County Council (Harbour Authority), Visit Officer, UK – Working as part of a team within a pressurised environment, my job was to plan, organise and visit properties where entry has been refused to surveyors in order to secure appointments to carry out surveys using negotiation skills and diplomacy. Through this position I developed the following skills: •Ability to effectively manage a large workload within statutory deadlines •Experience in drafting reports and procedures •Competent at leading and delegating appropriately in order to achieve team targets July 2000 - Oct 2001 - Virgin Trains, Customer Relations Consultant,UK - Within a Customer Service environment, my role was to assist passengers with their enquiries and complaints. This involved providing the general public with detailed and up-to-date information both verbally and in writing on a range of services provided by the company. This post was very beneficial in the development of the following skills: •Ability to work as an effective team member •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Good office skills Summer 98/99 - Gemini Café, General Manager -During this period I decided to put all the catering experience I acquired to good use. With just the financial backing of the owner, I was responsible for the establishment and daily running of the business. I was involved in a variety of roles; from menu planning, placing orders with food suppliers, to interviewing staff and serving the first customers. This degree of responsibility has taught me to find solutions to customers’ problems in a calm and efficient manner. •Supervisory experience •Experience of planning and identifying appropriate staff training requirements. Summer 92-97 -‘da Marios’ Italian Restaurant / Fast Food Restaurants (seasonal work) I undertook a variety of temporary roles: silver service waitress, cashier, party hostess, kitchen assistant etc. which developed my knowledge of many aspects of the catering business.
