I am a professional looking to learn Persian and Pashto, and have had exposure to Pashto I have a basic understanding of the Farsi and Dari dialects, and am not opposed to learning the Tajik dialect as well. I would like to become fluent to the degree that I can adequately speak and understand when someone converses with me. Additionally, I would like to be able to understand various forms of media (both written and aural). I am open to as much time as the instructor will provide. I would like a teacher that is professional as well as patient and laid back, and can convey essential cultural understanding across cultural and linguistic lines and barriers.

I have studied Korean for nearly 6 years already, but I stopped learning in 2002 when my son was born. I had a private tutor in Mountlake Terrace, but now wish to contineue learning with a tutor, but need to find a tutor in the Seattle area. I have the opportunity to use Korean in my work at F5 Networks in Seattle, but I am also very interested to learn Korean for personal reasons also. My hope is to dedicate time to learning with a tutor at least once every two weeks, and then to study Korean on my own outside of class, at least 5 to 6 hours total, in between lessons. The textbooks that I have used in the past, or the first and second volumes of Korean grammar, written by the late Dr. Fred Lukoff, who previously was the dean of the Korean department, at the University of Washington. I also have used numerous other reader books published in Korea, in addtion to some books that have previously been used in public education in Korea, geared at children in the late years of primary school (i.e. approximately 4th or 5th grade). The very most important thing for me in a teacher, in addtion to superb teaching experience and qualification s, is frankly, a 100% reliance on Korean when teaching, and not using English at all.
