I am going to China for college in the year 2011. I want to be a translator for the UN someday. And i would like to major in international relations. My writing skills are beginner. However, i went to china last summer for a month and learned alot. I can speak fairly well. And understand easy sentences. I want to be able to communicate with my cousin more effectively and so she doesn't have to work so hard at reading my lips. I have always wanted to learn sign language since I was a kid but never had the opportunity. This seems like a perfect reason to start learning.
I am a beginner student. I would be willing and able to dedicate two hours a day to start off with. Maybe more if possible.
I would like the teacher to be patient and not mind me asking questions. I want and need to understand this language and completely as I can. In person classes would be preferable if we are close to each other. If not I do have video chat capabilities with my computer at home.
Thank you and I really hope I can start learning Sign Language soon.
