I am an anthropology student focusing in the Middle East and Arabic, so I have a great need and desire to quickly learn as much Arabic as humanly possible. I also speak French and Hindi, and I'm a quick study when it comes to learning languages. I've been self-teaching Arabic for about two years now, I can read and write it, and I've taken an intensive course in spoken Lebanese. For the purposes of my anthropologic al interests, I want to learn more of the Lebanese dialect, as well as gain exposure to other dialects. At this time, however, my most immediate need is to improve my Modern Standard Arabic, as formal Arabic is what will be required of me in most academic contexts in the near future. This winter, I will be traveling during January and February, and will probably locate myself depending primarily on where I can find an intensive language tutor with whom to work. I'm looking to dedicate as many hours a week as the instructor can reasonably provide. I'm looking to work with someone one-on-one, especially because I learn quickly, but also because I am looking to fill in the holes in my knowledge of Arabic.
