Hello, my name is Amanda Kaisar. I am traveling to Bangladesh in November of 2007. I'm staying for two months visiting my in-laws with my husband. I am definitely a beginner. I feel I understand greetings and simple words well right now. I know all my colors, and numbers up to ten. I really need to learn the nouns, and how to understand formed sentences and conversations . The accent of people talking to me really is hard to understand right now. I will understand one or two words but it isn't enough to know what they are saying. I have to, and want to become fluent in this language. I learn the most with another person like my husband saying and teaching me things. I would like to work on this at least twice a week. I am looking for someone who will talk to me and not just plop me down on the internet or a book.

I wish to learn vietnamese because I'm going to be joining a family of vietnamese in the future, and I would like to learn this language not only to impress them with taking the time for learning their native language. They would also be more accepting of me since I am not of their race. It would also be a plus because they're vietnamese people in my region, but no school. I'm currently a beginner but I have been using some 'teach yourself' programs and can understand some basic vietnamese. I would like to dedicate at least 30 minutes to an hour of lesson time. For the qualities of the teacher, just patience. And I'll do my best this means a lot to me.

Hello,
I am learning the Finnish language because I think it is one of the most pleasant sounding languages I have ever heard. Also, I believe that it is good for everyone to learn a second, or even third language. Currently I only speak English. I think Finnish has a nice rythm and because it is a very phonetic language it is realatively easy to read things in Finnish and figure out how the words should sound. The grammar, on the other hand, is very challenging for me. I have started studies on my own, but I would really like to have an interactive program whith emphasis on pronunciation , coversational Finnish, and vocabulary (ie: months, days, colors, etc.). Grammar is also important to me, but I think that should be secondary, not the focus of learning a new language.
I am still a beginner, however I have a strong desire to learn the Finnish language. I currently spend 2 hours or more studying Finnish on a typical day. I would like to continue spending 2 hours or more each day studying Finnish.
One of the benefits I see of having private language instruction is the ability to tailor each lesson to my own learning style. I typically learn things best when I am able to ask questions freely in a conversationa l format. Listening and reading/writi ng are both very important for me to learn something effectively.
