Why you are learning your foreign language?: When I was at a very young age(8 years old), I was introduced to the Japanese culture, and was enthralled to learn everything about Japan, even if it was just basic knowledge. From that time to present, I've self taught myself the sheer basics to get the vocabulary well-known, in addition to getting traditionally trained at a community college for a year. My purpose for this training is to solidify everything that I've gained so far, but I want to start from the beginning just to be on the safe side. Also I want to put my skills to the test by applying to JLPT to get an official certification in Japanese language(Read ing and Writing, etc). All of this is for my burning desire to tour Japan and be one with its entire culture.
Y our proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.)? Truthfully since I've been self teaching myself for the past 20 years, I really don't have a gauge as to where my placement is. I've translated a couple of things to see if I was able to do it, and I did an acceptable job to the limited knowledge I have, but its within my own self merits. So that's the reason why I want to start from stage 1.
The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc)? Definitely in Grammar and Conversation, because I usually get shy, mess up the sayings, and make out an entirely different saying from the original conversation. Writing as well, because I know if you form two different words together, it'll mean a completely different saying, or have no meaning at all.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons? As much time as needed until I can read, write, and speak thoroughly. I want to be engulfed into the entire process.
W hat qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher? I want my teacher to know that I have a passion for this, and I'll take the lessons very seriously. I want them to be honest with me, give me all the knowledge that they have, from Proper Japanese, to Slang Japanese. Also to give me challenges that are attainable, and I will follow them to the letter.

Description |
I'm learning Japanese for a number of reasons. It started with plain-old interest then advanced to ministry in Japanese as well. But I've always loved the sound of the language and that was my first reason for learning.
I've studied before, and at my peek I would have considered myself advanced but not fluent. I've recently started looking over my old lessons to regain all the knowledge I've lost over the past couple of years.
I feel I need to improve in all areas but I'm still fairly proficient at sentence structure and some grammar. That being said, I can still improve in those areas, but where I TRULY need help is in [1]building useful vocabulary and [2]conversati on. When listening I can recognize a good portion of words, even if I've forgotten them over time. But spoken, I feel like it takes me too long to respond. Partly due to lack of practice and lack of vocabulary. I remember being decent at verb conjugations and I could pick it up again quickly.
I will spend all the time I need to learn this language. My goal is one lesson a week.

Description |
I want to speak it better when I visit or work in Thailand. I would like to sing some Thai songs.
My current skill is somewhere between beginner and advanced (different areas of speech and understanding are at various levels).
I need improvement in all areas.
I can dedicate several hours a week to the lessons and studying and I spend some time speaking Thai with folks in Thailand.
The teacher qualities that I look for is to be a native speaker, the ability to explain the difference in words that are used and not required but to help with some Issan words.

I am learning Korean because I always wanted to learn Korean and in high school the more languages you know the more college points you get. I am a beginner in korean. Usually I need help in conversation, writing, and etc. About maybe an hour or an hour and a half. For my lessons, I hoping it would be easy but challenging too. Also he teacher could be nice but also mean to push me to try harder.

Description |
I am learning for my career, keep up with the language I have, and one day teach my children the language I love. I am currently a 1+ 1+ as far as the department of defense is concerned. I am able to carry on a conversation fairly well with small grammatical errors here and there. I definitely need help in grammar, conversation, listening, vocabulary. I would like to dedicate 1 to 2 hours a week on the language as I prepare to up my DoD scores with my language. I need a teacher that understands my needs and is able to cater to my ability. I don't need a from the ground up teaching. I know a ton of the foundational stuff I might need a refresher. Lookig forward to learn.
