I am looking for tuitor for my 14 years old daughter. She is interested in learning Mandarin because we are Chinese.
She is an absolute beginner in the language and would like to start from the beginning. Because of her school schedule, we would like to take one lesson a week in late afternoon, anyday Monday through Friday.

I don't speak or read any Chinese. I will be traveling to China, hopefully, next summer. Although I have friends there I have made on the internet, in some places I will be traveling completely along. I would like to have some basic abiity to deal with emergencies, verbally, and to read basic signs.
I would like to take private (one on one) lessons. Probably the most I can afford is once, every other week.
I am a retired college professor who is sucessful and still active professionall y in my field; but...I am MISERABLE at languages! I am going to need a teacher who is extremely patient. I will be slow; but I am determined.
Doesn't matter if my teacher is male or female, I guess, but if at all possible I would prefer male because I am a male and it's easier for me to match sounds with another male voice. But a female teacher is fine, too.
