I am interested in learning Portuguese as both a hobby and for possible use in international business. I am an intermediate level student, based on a language placement I took at a school in Rio after 1 week of instruction in December. This followed previous classes on line and in person and a background with Spanish. I am interested in reviewing grammar and practicing on speaking, listening, and writing during classes, which I prefer to take via Skype evenings or weekends. To my potential tutor:
I am a Catholic priest living in Texas, USA. I need to develop my Spanish skills so that I may be more effective in ministry.
I have visited Manizales and Pereira and I would be happy to study in either city, my preference being Pereira. My Spanish is rudimentary at best. But I can read it and hold a short conversation in Spanish if needs be.
I am patient and generally very agreeable. However, i dislike learning languages because I do not have the natural talent. I do much better at grammar rather than conversation. So I will need both, but especially conversation. Total immersion has not helped me with Spanish in the past, and I have never really succeeded in Italian either with immersion. So we will have to combine immersion with formal learning of the structure and grammar.
I look forward to working with a man or woman who knows their stuff and who is patient with me. I think I will opt for personal tutor, but I am not opposed to a small group setting.
I also hope that the tutor and I can begin online before I arrive in Colombia.

I was to learn Russian because I am moving to Russian in less than a year. I have no previous knowledge of the Russian language. I need to improve my grammar and conversations .
