I am moving to Beijing at the beginning of May and I want to teach English when I get there. I would like to be able to speak and understand Mandarin Chinese so that I can get the most out of interacting with the people and learning the culture while I am in China. Also, when I return to America, I would like to be able to understand Chinese well enough to use it toward advancing my career in the States.
At this point I do not know any Mandarin Chinese at all. I would like to dedicate 2 or 3 hours a day to learning Chinese with the tutor. I need a teacher who is confident,con sistent, patient and effective at teaching.

I would like to learn Catalan, because I travel to Catalunya twice a year, and I have many Catalan friends. I speak Spanish fluently and I love Spain. I know a few basic phrases in Catalan but I would love to learn more.
I need practice in almost every dimension of Catalan. However, knowing Latin and Spanish fluently really are a great help - I have almost no problem reading, but words that are more Catalan and Francophone give me some difficulty, as they are not cognates with what I know already.
I would dedicate at least a half hour a day to studying Catalan if I had a tutor.
I am looking for a teacher who is patient, social, and flexible - granted that I am going to try my best to be the same. :) I would like to be able to have fluent conversation in Catalan someday, so that whenever I return to Catalunya I will be able to speak more and more with my friends and not feel like an outsider when they default to that language.
