How do I properly say two different Icelandic phrases/sayings?
A long time ago I used to live in Iceland as a guest worker in both Vestmannajar and Reykjavik in the fishing industry. There were two phrases I liked quite a lot that I wish now I had learned how to properly say them in Icelandic.
The first basically translated to something like; "it's best to get the ugly things done first". (when we would start a difficult job that involved multiple things--start with the most unsavory thing first)
The next was when describing corruption in a organization; it translated to "a fish rots from the head down".
If there is any link to additional sayings like those above, I would really love to see those as well. Thanks in advance to any Icelander who has a chance to think about this.
Cheers.

I'd love to learn Icelandic
Hi people,
I hope to find someone who like to teach me the basics. In return I can teach you Dutch, or try to help you improve your English.
I like to know the basics before I go there on a holiday with my father...
I'm 25 years old, living in Belgium (but I'm officialy from The Netherlands) and I love to watch/play theater and softball. And I love to make fun ;-)
Hope to here from you soon.

Hann gengur ekki heill til skógur
Can anybody from Iceland explain to me the idiom "hann gengur ekki heill til skógur"? I know that it literally translates as "He doesn't go whole to the forest," but I can't tell what it means.

How do you pronounce Vinland?
Greetings to all Icelanders! Please come to my aid. I need to know what is the correct pronunciation of Vinland. In particular, how did Leif Ericsson pronounce it? Did he say Vin-land as in Finland? Or did he say Vine-land as in Rhineland? This is very important. You will be doing me a tremendous favor if you can clear this up for me. I thank you very much. Sincerely, Ralph Cinque
