I am of Italian descent. However, my grandmother would not allow my father to speak back to her in Italian, because she wanted him to be American. I would like to become as fluent as possible in Italian. We are hoping to schedule a trip next summer to take our daughter there, and I would like to be able to converse with native speakers while we are there.
