I am interested in learning to speak Japanese because I am having my first baby that is partially Japanese due to the father being biracial. I would love to teach my baby girl to speak to her grandmother in her native language and her grandfather (that currently resides in Okinawa, Japan and is employed as a professor).
This will also look good on my resume that I speak a foreign language. I am willing to dedicate 2 hours of my Saturday mornings to learning this language or whatever it takes so that I can have a conversation and understand what is being said to me. I am most definitely a beginner. I am looking for a dedicated teacher that is concerned about his students progression in learning the language and proper usage.

I ma interested in learning a wide variety of foreign languages. I have studied french, some spanish, modern and ancient greek as well as arabic. I have never studied latvian but would like to start. I need to start from scratch since i know nothing of the language except that it is fairly modern and its compilation is opposite of english even though they both derived from old european dialect. latvian being more secluded and in common with lithuania, and english more deriving from the germanic side. I am deployed in iraq right not doing much so i would like to dedicate as much time as possible to learning this language and be able to cary on small conversations if needed. A teacher willing ot be patient and understanding enough to teach me what i need to know, but firm enough to push me.
